Way too spicy tomyum @ Sutera Utama

This happen during a weekend paktoh day.
SHE suggested Thai food as I love Pad Thai a lot and recently she saw someone sharing this place on Facebook and people were saying food is good and Pad Thai is good.

So today no chance to jalan jalan and find for other cheap good eats, going to the place SHE suggested (honestly, I am pretty skeptical with existence of good Pad Thai in Johor Bahru, tried a lot, doesn't come close to any of Bangkok's taste)

A bowl of way too spicy tomyum

Standard must order dish, Tom Yum Soup, at here there is no choice of seafood/prawn/chicken only.
The default or should I say the only choice here is Tom Yum Soup on their menu, it comes with prawn in it.

Fried Pork Meat

Also ordered a Fried Pork dish. Comes with Thai Chili Sauce (those in the bottle type, not their own homemade)

Pineapple Fried Rice

Also Pineapple Fried Rice, pretty interesting plating, squarish.

Pad Thai without chilli flakes

Lastly, PAD THAI!!!!! But It doesn't come with chilli powder/flake on the plate.

Pad Thai with chilli flakes
Nevermind, lim beh add it myself.

Random Table decoration
Let's look at something beautiful before we start okay?

The first dish to come is Tom Yum Soup, pretty standard, almost everywhere we go, Tom Yum soup will served first eh?
Well, 1st impression, SIBEH SPICY!!!
2nd impression, DAMN SPICY!!!
Honestly, it is spicy, even for someone that love to eat spicy and hot stuff, this level of spiciness is a bit too much. Our lips did end up numb and reddish.
There were like 4 or 5 prawns in it, fish cakes, fish paste, mushrooms, didn't notice any meats.

Next, fried pork.
Ok, a bit of charred taste, not too hard to chew. But SHE says it taste like roti / bread. No idea what exactly that means.

Next comes the PAD THAI!!!
It come without chilli flake/powder at the side, a bit BUAY SONG already.
So we went and get the chilli flake, add it ourself. After taking photo, wanted to stir and mix all the stuff together (taugeh, spring onion and chilli flake). Fork down, hand stopped for a moment. Face changed.
Spoon down, trying to stir and mix.
CONFIRMED!! It is wet, soggy, soft, sticking together like long lost lovers that only see each another once a decade, ain't gonna leave each another side during this once a decade meeting.

POTONG STIM liao loh. Plus the prawn in the pad thai is overcooked as well plus shell sticking to the meat like long lost lover too plus it cost RM10 (well, not cheap you know)

Gave up on mixing it all together. Taste test, nah, can't make it too, but not as bad as some stalls that I have tried (no asam, use dark soy sauce to cook and call it Pad Thai <--refering to some other stalls I tried before).

Pineapple fried rice is luckily very decent, like every other Thai food stall/restaurant. Oh, the rice ain't long lost lovers, they are not sticking together.

k thx bai, end of story

** just in case if you wondering, did I complain to the operator? Nope, I didn't "complain". But I did ask the kid (Yes, it is a 12-13 yrs old kid) that were in charge of ordering and collection of bill.
'Does your PadThai is always like this? Soggy, wet, soft?'
Apparently, he went and ask someone else.
He came back and say 'Yeah, it is always like this'
I smiled at him and just left with a reddish and numb lips from the spicy tom yum.
Btw, SHE pays for the meal, ok lah, my wallet didn't cry. LOL

- end of story -

!!  ** MY VERDICT **  !!

WORTH THE MONEY? :  (Not overly expensive. Sub RM10)
TASTE : ♥ (Probably the lowest I scored in this blog, for spicy lover, the tomyum soup will be good)
ENVIRONMENT : ♥ (Looks good, insta-worthy, but no wind that day, little stuffy but luckily they install fans around to help out a little.)
ACCESSIBILITY  :  (You can park at Sutera Mall outdoor parking or if you feeling gutsy, just park by roadside)
RETURN TO EAT : Thanks, but no thanks. Will go back the few Thai resto that I always frequent in town area instead.

date visited : 3rd week of Sept 2017
