[HALAL] Kacang Pool @ Restoran Kacang Pool Haji

Malu lah as a Johorean if never tried Kacang Pool before. People from other states rush over for this dish you know? (Finally, I am eligible to say this. Yeah, my first try with Kacang Pool)

Probably many of you will have seen this shop which is DIRECTLY infront of Foon Yew 3 but never had the courage to step in as we dunno wtf is Kacang Pool (I bet my parents never tried it before)

Searched the internet on the 'definition' of kacang pool. And the answer issssss....
Kacang Phool / Kacang Pool (Spiced Fava Beans/Foul Medames) is a local adaptation of an Egyptian's breakfast. Fool, ful, fooool, foul medames are the 'real' name of this dish and probably after some adding in local slang it become Pool, thus the name Kacang Pool.

So, after reading what is kacang pool and you still dunno what it is?
Ok, fine, let me try to explain it my WAY.
Imagine baked beans, canned sardine, tons of spice like cumin, peppers, coriander mixed together with lime juice and some green chilli. So there is this salty, slighty sweet, mixed spices fragrance and sourish kick from the lime juice. Well, sort of.

Btw, there are 2 different kacang pool available in this shop.
Kacang Pool Kambing for RM10 and Kacang Pool Daging (Beef) for RM6.
Being the cheapo, ofcourse I went for the cheaper RM6 daging version.

Each order comes with a toast, a THICK slice of toast. The kacang pool is nice to be eaten by itself, or even better when you scoop a spoonful and place it on the toast.
There is also a beautifully cooked egg on the kacang pool.

Now, after having my very first Kacang Pool, it is totally different from what I imagine, It is way better than how I thought it would be. Definitely must try if you haven't try this local dish breakfast before.
Apart from Kacang Pool, they do have selections of other local breakfast like nasi lemak, soto and some other stuffs. (Sorry, forgot to take the photo of their menu)

Also, I love the interior of the shop, it is clean and spacious,
